1. I found comfy, casual shoes to wear to work. They are Sanuk kids’ shoes. My feet don’t feel so abused by the end of the day when I wear these shoes.
2. Instead of having students sharpen pencils when they get to class, I’m having them sharpen pencils on their way out. This change in procedure has been successful. The kids are quick about sharpening pencils and putting them in the pencil box so they aren’t late getting back to class. Even better, the next class has freshly sharpened pencils to use as soon as they walk into the classroom.
3. I’m finally on a sleep routine. I wake up every workday at 5 a.m. and feel so much better the whole day. It has also been over a year now that I haven’t been drinking Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Dr. Pepper. I was easily drinking 2-3 a day. I don’t think I would have been able to get into a sleep routine if I hadn’t stopped drinking sodas with caffeine.
4. I haven’t had Internet access at my home for a month. Suddenly, I have time to read and hang out at the library across the street. I think it also helps me get to bed on time, no more gorging on television series available on Netflix
