House Training: Week 1

Strategy: Moved LeeLoo’s food to my bedroom

Evidence: LeeLoo has been eating her food while I’m getting ready for work. This gives her more time to digest and be ready to go potty outside before I leave. Three days in a row, LeeLoo has done both number 1 and number 2 outside before I left the house for the day. This is a huge improvement.

Strategy: Only give LeeLoo treats for eliminating outside, and make sure the treats are fabulous.

Evidence: On Saturday morning I left the back door open. LeeLoo went outside for a bit and suddenly ran back into the house and straight for the fridge. I took a peek outside and saw that she had done a number 2 and was expecting a big piece of yummy chicken. We have a connection. Yes!

Unexpected Outcome: Mayu, the cat, thinks it unfair that LeeLoo is eating upstairs. Even though I have warned Mayu that eating dog food will turn her into a dog, she keeps at it. Luckily, LeeLoo waits for me to shoo the cat away before eating her breakfast.
